Cold-Pressing
Cold-pressing hemp oil is a method of separating cannabinoids from industrial hemp biomass, using mechanical pressure and no external heat. This process is designed to retain the natural qualities of the oil, including its flavour, aroma and nutritional profile. Protect Pharma’s screw press can process 150-300 kilo industrial hemp biomass per hour, after which the oil follows an in-house developed process of gravity separation, plate filtration and purification. Cold-pressed hemp products are excluded from the novel food regulation. The main reason for this is that cold-pressed hemp oils are not novel because there is evidence to show a history of consumption before May 1997. Cold pressing technology, therefore, has nothing to do with extraction, as extract methods change the composition of the product. And that is mainly the reason why extracted hemp products are considered as novel food.
